Surprising Recipes For Your Slow Cooker or Crockpot


Use your crockpot and/or slow cooker to their full advantage. they don't seem to be only for roasts and soups except for a good kind of uses.  The recipes during this article can show you some nice dishes to create in your cooker.  How regarding Red Onion Marmalade to prime your steaks, fish, etc?  Or use it as an appetizer on rounds of sourdough bread.  Or why not create your own Golden Apple Butter to relinquish as gifts or serve with pork chops, etc. The apple butter is additionally an excellent homemade baby food for older babies and toddlers.  Whip up a batch and store in tiny containers within the refrigerator.

RED ONION MARMALADE

5 massive red onions, thinly sliced

4 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tbsp olive or canola oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp ground coriander

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

1/4 cup water

2 tbsp currant jelly

In a massive skillet, carmelize the onion within the butter, oil, and garlic.  Season with the cumin, coriander, salt and pepper.  Transfer to crockpot or slow cooker and add the water and jelly; combine completely to mix.  Place lid on cooker and cook on high for one hour.

Allow marmalade to chill before serving. is also kept within the refrigerator for up to four days.

GOLDEN CROCKPOT APPLE BUTTER

4 lb Golden Delicious apples, peeled

2 cups apple cider

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon cloves

1/8 teaspoon allspice

3 cups sugar

Cut the peeled apples into quarter and mix during a crockpot or slow cooker with the cider.  Place lid on cooker and cook apples on low for ten hours.  Add the spices and also the sugar, mixing along well.  Leave the lid off and cook on high for about three hours till thickened; stir often.  Spoon the recent mixture into hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/2-inch of house at the highest.  Seal with 2 piece lids.  Once opened, or any jars that failed to seal, ought to be refrigerated.

Yield: four pints or eight 0.5 pints

Delicious with pork chops, etc, on toast or biscuits for breakfast, sprinkled with cinnamon as a snack, or makes an excellent gift with a fairly ribbon tied round the neck of the jar.
